    LDS Charities Donates Learning Literacy Material to Ginigoada

      Strengthening and delivering quality training for the people, with a second chance of building new hopes to move forward for a better future, the LDS Charities joined partnerships with Ginigoada Foundation - “STAY STRONG” providing learning materials and support training equipment – Stools, tables, white boards and stationery papers and learning charts. A handover ceremony was attended and led by the Priesthood Leaders and Public Affairs with the Ginigoada Management and staff.

      Currently many high school graduates are not able to attend higher education classes due to the lack of classroom space. The Ginigoada Foundation has been able to provide one-hundred and fifty young people with the opportunity to graduate from a life-skills training course, thanks to the donation.

      Running now for around 15 years, Ginigoada’s short courses aim to help people, especially the youth, to ‘become drop ins instead of drop outs’.


      Assistant General manager Robert Eva thanked The Church for the donation, but identified more need for help. He remarked, “Although we receive a lot of help to conduct the life skills programmes, to help people become employable, more help is needed as the numbers grow.”

      The Church has also worked with the National Health Department on measles, mumps and rubella immunization programs.


      Community water projects were supported by the Church in Gabane in Rigo. Two full containers of wheelchairs and walking aids have been donated to the National Orthotics and Prosthetics Department.


      The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) partners with relief organisations and other faith networks worldwide in participating in major humanitarian initiatives where needs are identified.

      Edward Alembo is the country Welfare Manager for the LDS Church in Papua New Guinea. On the topic of partnering with other relief organisations, he observed, “The Church does not want to duplicate what other organisations are already doing but seeks to add to what is already happening on the ground. We partner and help where we can throughout the world.”
