Elder Robert J. Dudfield, Pacific Area Seventy and Australia/Papua New Guinea director of public affairs for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, met with Papua New Guinea’s Deputy Chief Justice, The Hon Sir Gibbs Gibuma Salika KBE, CSM, OBE, in Port Moresby this week.
The leaders discussed ways to strengthen marriage, family and communities.
“Papua New Guinea society is founded on marriage and family,” Sir Gibbs Salika said during the meeting.
“In order to strengthen this country we need to strengthen marriages and families.”
Elder Dudfield said the meeting was a very positive one, focusing on some of the family-centred initiatives of the Papua New Guinean Government and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
“Our focus, as a church,” Elder Dudfield said, “is to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ, lift lives, fortify families and contribute to caring communities. When we can work with our friends in other churches, in government, and other parts of society, we can achieve much more for the benefit of those who desperately need love, support and hope.”
